PJ WRITES!

Doing my best to find balance in all facets of life and watching the clouds go by.

Aug 22, 2005

Saw this jewel,

and thought I would pass it along:

Do you visit your local Starbucks for a Grande Latte every day? If you swear off the ’Buck, you could stand to save almost a million dollars — in about 41 years. That's a long time to stay away from caffeine, but you can ditch the daily expense and still get your fix by investing in your own espresso machine. Sure, operating these pump-driven devices isn’t as easy as flipping on a Mr. Coffee, but making quality espresso drinks isn’t impossible. Over the last few years, design and engineering advances have produced machines small enough for your kitchen counter, yet capable of creating the water pressure and temperatures needed to brew the real black gold at home. Whether you want push-button simplicity or the tactile grace of a manual lever — utilitarian or high-fashion — the variety of machines and accessories available is enough to fill a coffee lover’s heart with crema. With the right ingredients and a little help from a vibrant online community of espresso fiends, nearly anyone can become a home barista — and the only tip jar you'll have to fill is your own.

Reminds me of the strange looks I got when I bought in a espresso maker to different gigs. At the end of the day though, it was better than schlepping and it was my form of the cigarette break.
